Stick mitbringen.
Lightning Talk Anmeldung bitte formlos per EMail an info@pyddf.de

Anniversary - Six Years Leipzg Python User Group

It started on Februar 14, 2006.  We had our first User Group meeting here in Leipzig. We have been meeting ever since, regularly once a month. We only replaced the meeting three times in 2006 and 2007 with our workshop, a 50-people conference-like event, and 2011 with the first PyCon DE that we organized.

We had numerous presentations at our meetings. There are all mentioned in the User Group archives.
Since 2008 we have been running a booth at Chemnitzer Linux Tage, a local Linux fest, and will be there the fifth time this year.

We developed a stable core of members and even made it through strenuous process of organizing the first PyCon DE 2011 and do it again this year for PyCon DE 2012. Not too bad for a local group of Pythonistas.

I think we also have impact on the German speaking Python community way outside our local reach. Only the fact that we meet regularly can inspire others elsewhere to do the same. After all, there are only a few German speaking user groups, so every single one counts even more.

Actually, it is not too difficult to get started. Choose a location and a regular date and announce the meeting. Just do it regularly even though there are only a couple of people at the meeting. There will be more after the first year of regular meetings.

We are planning new activities in the future and will put more time into them after PyCon DE 2012, which naturally absorbers lots of our community energy. You will hear more from us if you hang around in the Python community.
